About the U.S. De Minimis Rule (Tax-Free Threshold) In the United States, imports valued at $800 USD or less per day (including shipping) are exempt from customs duties under the De Minimis rule. As of May 2, 2025, packages shipped from China or Hong Kong are no longer eligible for this exemption. However, packages shipped from Japan are still covered under the De Minimis rule, meaning shipments under $800 USD are duty-free. ✅ Conclusion If you're shipping from Japan and the total declared value (including shipping) is under $800 USD, no import duties should apply in the U.S.
